Right I think that I can send invites, just signed up today. Setup no probs on my work machine (XP) and my iMac. I can see the files that I put in my Dropbox folder no probs.

First 5 to PM me with their email addresses get invites.

Edited : gotta save some invites for people not on this forum.

Thanks for offering invites. I'll do the same if I get into the beta.

Is it just me or does this feel like gmail all over again

Just so people are aware :

While you own the content contained in Your Files, you hereby grant all other Dropbox users a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual and irrevocable right and license to use and exploit Your Files in your public folder. In addition, you hereby grant Dropbox users who have been given access to your shared folder a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual and irrevocable right and license to use and exploit Your Files in your shared folder.

I've created my own folder and will only use the Public folder for sending file links to people.

So far its working really well.

I'm liking the app but the menubar icon needs to be changed. I really don't like the colour icon up there.

That bit posted by moep is kinda scary.

Like turtle said though, they probably have to put it there. I'm not worried. Nothing too important on my computer.

Just testing out the thing

EDIT: Oh yeah, thats MS Word. I couldn't think of what else to use off hand. Could have done something better in Appleworks I suppose.

Oh, and I've got invites, all 10 of them, though I'm only ready to give out 7 as of now, as I may have some others I want to give out to.

PM me! And be sure to include your email address. (I forgot to the first time I PMed someone...)

I'd like a dashboard widget that would upload to your photos/public folder and then copy the URL to your clipboard.
That'd be handy.

For those using it, how's the speed vs what connection you have?

Large files take a while. I'm not finished doing a 350M avi that I put into the Dropbox folder 9 mins ago. About 80KB/s is the transfer reading that I'm getting.

EDIT : still not finished. Crossing the Atlantic *might* have something to do with it.

On par. Slow Internet. It takes a fair amount of time to upload files. Ask those with better Internet for better results.

Hmm... I was doing a 5MB file, took about 2 mins, and my transfer was reading 344 Kb/s.

Most residential ISPs cap upload speeds very aggressively. This is one of the major problems with this whole network disk approach.

Few things about it...

- It is a saint for image hosting.
- Restarted, it starts up quickly, but the icon in the sidebar took a long time to display. It was there, but only as a normal folder icon.
- If you have "Show icon preview" clicked in the View Options, the smaller icon embedded on each icon to tell you wether its uploading or is done does not show.
