That site is so not worth that kind of money.

I assume you don't listen to any of their podcasts?

Long ago their site was pretty useless, but lately they've turned themselves around.

Anyone remember the old CNET TV show?

Yes. Didn't it used be aired on USA at completely irrelevant times?

Something like that, yeah. Pretty funny to think back to those times.

I've never been too fond of CNET; this just guarantees their imminent doom.

Everything CBS touches turns to poop these days.

When C|Net first hit the scene (on TV and online) it was great. Good tech stories, good video journalism, and very entertaining. With the exception of their ludicrous airtimes, they were great. Then they changed-started asking for money for their email newsletter, got lost on the USA network, and basically turned into a poor quality online magazine. It's sad.

I don't know whether CBS will kill them or make them stronger. When CBS acquired the Star Trek franchise they didn't kill that-they actually got things rolling to make it more entertaining, with the "remastered" episodes of the original series and all. We'll see.

Is that really how much broadcast.com went for? My recollection is hazy on that one. Yahoo really overpaid if so.

It ain't what the site is worth, it's how much they figure they can get from the site's advertising. Content is completely secondary (or lower). It's all about ad revenue.

Don't remember where I read it but they said that they wonder how long news.com will stay IT news.

Personally, I'm not a C|Net fan and hardly ever visit.

Oh, wow...good call. Our assistant pastor walked in and started dying laughing. I did a Google search for "turd," and he stepped in the room .45 seconds afterwards.

He even made me Email this one around. Warning: absolutely disgusting!

Ouch!

I always plan on buying stock in various companies, but I've always backed out. I nearly bought Apple stock when it was down sub-70, buuuut...

Yes, I believe that C-Net killed MacFixit.com. It's also sad that Ted Landau refuses to admit it, either.
