She does.

I was going to mention that, but I thought this thread was already insulting enough to her as it is.

I don't think this counts if she admits to their universal tastiness.

At least when it comes to bacon.

My wife won't eat coconut, and she hates bell peppers. Otherwise we get along fine at the table. More coconut and bell peppers for me, and she can have all the salmon.

I haven’t the faintest what Krispy Kremes are. I can sort of understand how one could dislike honey, especially ‘concentrated’ (like, just eating a spoonful of honey on its own) … but BLUEBERRIES? How can anyone not love berries in general, and blueberries in specific?

Eggplant. Not that I'm a big fan, so it's ok.

She does like cheese, so we're out of sync there.

Krispy Kreme is a chain of doughnut shops that specialize in a particularly sticky, light, hole-less doughnut that's "glazed" with a coating of liquefied sugar. They are revolting, in my opinion, and my wife's. The chain used to offer just about any doughnut you could name, but they've capitalized on their high calorie items so much that I don't think they make much other than the filled and unfilled glazed variety anymore. I like Dunkin fine, as does my wife, but really good doughnuts are really hard to find nowadays.

They had some bad press here last week when it was found that just one doughnut from them contained more than the recommended daily dosage of trans fat.

Comparatively speaking, their sticky glazed products are much higher calorie foods than plain doughnuts. MUCH higher. I guess when you're talking about hundreds versus thousands of calories, the difference doesn't seem as great as when comparing hundreds of calories with dozens of calories...

A plain donut? Not even sprinkles or anything?

That's like a rack without the pinion.

Comparatively speaking, I prefer a plain doughnut to the glazed variety. I'll go with a fruit filling, but I prefer plain cake doughnuts, or even better "old fashioned" (sometimes called sour cream) doughnuts. Especially if they're chocolate. Yum! But Krispy Kreme's base doughnut is almost not a doughnut at all; it's all fluff and not anything you can really bite into, especially compared to a good old plain doughnut.

Here's Krispy Kreme's page showing their varieties. Note that almost all of them are shiny-smooth with thick glazing. Fourth row, third from left is a "traditional cake" doughnut; I guess they still make 'em, but I've never seen one in the display case.

To me, Krispy Kreme's frosted doughnuts are like a beignet that's been soaked in corn syrup; too light and way too sweet.

For reference, THESE are glazed (left) and chocolate frosted (right) old fashioned doughnuts:

And for the record, I prefer 'em WITHOUT either glazing or frosting.

And these are plain cake doughnuts:

I hold the conviction that all sweets have inherent value, whether they be cake or pie. I like pie, and had some today. But you can't dunk pie in your coffee on a cold, winter afternoon, which you can do with a plain cake doughnut. I feel more inclusive in this philosophical stance, and I hope you can appreciate my embracing of diversity in this.

Both Limburger cheese and circus peanuts have their place. Not anywhere near me of course, but they have their place. I like some strong cheeses, but Limburger smells so much like a cross between wet diaper and dirty undershirt that I will not get close enough to it to taste it. Circus peanuts are way too sweet and sticky for my tastes, but then people eat Peeps, so who am I to judge?

If you read the fine print it clearly states they aren't edible and are only to be used as high-frequency radar targets.

Oh holy hell. It's a doughnut for god sake. Last time I checked they are sugar fried in fat. I don't think they should be thought of as healthy, or even misleading that they are. If someone is that stupid, please get off my planet.
