A first look at Windows 7:

Windows Vista Team Blog : Microsoft demonstrates Multi-touch

Now it's suddenly clear what Bill Gates meant with "Information at Your Fingertips"

It looks interesting but the video seemed to be a series of parlor tricks. "See, I can play a virtual piano with my real fingers!" It's nothing like the iphone/itouch where the touch interface is actually connected to a very intuitive menu structure. The section where the person manipulated the photos looked good.

I saw the google video of that last year. Is that the same thing? And I think Apple should sue Microsoft for using MultiTouch...

Me, I'm waiting for the 75" widescreen OLED HDTV to be mainstream.

A keyboard works because you can rest your elbows/forearms on a desk.
The iPhone works because you can hold it while manipulating the keyboard and the interface.

I just cannot see people spending hours doing a Minority Report type dance to ssh into a machine, check some logs, vi a conf file, restart a daemon etc. Course I have been known to be wrong.

Personally, I like adding this air of drama to all my computing functions. Doing this for 8 hours a day 5 days of week will in no way dilute that air at all.

This isn't going to be mandatory, folks. It's just showing that Windows 7 will be compatible with this Surface hogwash.

Incidentally, having resizing go hand-in-hand with rotating in that photo tool would drive me up the friggin' wall. "No, noooo! Stay STRAIGHT!"
