So I've been having some minor but annoying issues with my Sony Bravia HDTV. I decided that I'd write an email to Sony describing the problems. Except for one thing. They only allow 255 characters to describe the problem(s). They have a live chat over the internet that you can do, so I've decided to do that. The only problem is, whoever is on the other end is as dumb as a bag of hammers. I keep on describing my issues, and all he says is "I'm sorry for the difficulties you are experiencing with your TV" and occasionally asks me to try something that I've told him I already have. I would call in, but their phone lines are closed right now. So if I call in can I expect any better? Or should I just live with my minor annoyances? I'm afraid when I call I will just get some kid in India who has nothing good to say.

FWIW, the issues are 1) When I tune into a channel, this black bar comes across the screen where the channel number should be but it shows the resolution and 2) it has problems tuning into HD channels unless I auto program it every week or so.

This forum might help out with your issue. There are threads on almost every make and model of HDTV in existence. When I had a few issues with my Samsung HDTV, I was able to find solutions for issues the support center had no idea how to fix.

I've found live chat support about as usless as a spoon in a rowboat without oars. Call tech support, but be ready to go through every step all over again to test different solutions. I bet they are just filling in a form, asking you to try everything before they replace the product.
