Well, Twitter's a disaster, so lots of people have moved to Plurk. Have you?

Plurk sounds like me after I have drunk too much.

Being an Internet Warrior on forums is about as close as I get to social network sites.

Yes, in the mornings, mostly. A strong coffee really helps get those bowels moving.

Post of the Week

I still don't understand the appeal of these services. I'm left clueless as to what people are writing about most of the time. I need some context, and the limited space available for a Twitter or Plurk entry rarely allows for that.

I don't understand who's got time for this stuff. And more importantly, I don't understand why I should care what my friends are doing at any minute of the day. I also think that plurk is a particularly badly chosen name, for the reasons so aptly expressed by analogika.

Funny that IT literate people are not usually users of these social networking sites. In the IT departments that I've worked at over the past few years, nobody that did a technical job had signed up for Arsebook or MyArse. All the tw@s that worked in IT but didn't know a bit from a byte were signed up.

I will admint to trying LinkedIn, but I have now (according to an email from LinkedIn) successfully deleted my profile.

Plurk looks like a cheap twitter knock-off to me.

All glory to the hypnotoad.

I was lured in by the interesting sounding name. Obviously its similarity to my very favourite letter z based social communication site made me curious.

At first I was repulsed but hey, gotta do something at lunchtime.

I also don't understand why someone would visit twitter or plurk, or myspace, or facebook, etc. Social networking sites seems dumb to me...

I prefer going to a bar, ordering a drink and making random announcements from time to time. Sometimes, I'll even sign a napkin.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

I registered now but just can't figure out how to edit or delete a plurk response.

Is it just not possible?

You can't un-send an SMS, or un-crap your toilet, either, so it's probably design.

true, but neither my cellphone nor my toilet runs on a mysql database.

It's just slightly annoying that you can't fix typos in responses. I already like plurk a lot better than twitter though, hope it catches on quickly.

I never understood the whole Twitter thing. This looks like Twitter—and the purpose still escapes me. But hey, I looked.

Ditto. And I have a twitter account.

Can someone please please enlighten me? Facebook status + sms = blog?
