I just found out on another board that Stan Winston, one of the best known SFX masters, died yesterday.

Since I was in High School, Winston has been a hero of mine (of sorts). I wanted to get into Special Effects for a long time, and the work that he and his studio did was always phenomenal.

For me, and I expect for many others, the loss will be felt.

Stan Winston made a huge difference in special effects and animatronics. A master of his trade. May he rest in peace.

What a loss. Died from multiple myeloma. That is typically not only unpleasant but painful. Very sad.
