I was waiting for some reasonable replies!
No guys, you from US still thinking that you are America?
My car obviously needs to be European because we don't get a lot of ecofriendly and small cars from United States. A Hummer is out of my range, please, I am looking for small cars, to put things in perspective a typical ford fiesta renault clio or opel corsa are fine, but I can’t decide and I do not know what is coming next! I am also on the used market that is about 2/3 of the European market. You can find bargains but you never know!
I am trolling, fine, don’t forget that most of your cars and engines are or need to go back to the drawing board.
And your Vettes were beaten in LeMans LOL That for call me a troll.
Kuka?

You probably would have gotten reasonable replies had you created a reasonable non-inflammatory ID. Look in the mirror before accusing us of not being reasonable.
Last time I check the US was in America so you were bashing the US

smart for two 2,69 m, still the king no matter what, even when now it is almost 20 cm longer than previous model it is under 2,70m. Anyway, pictures speak louder than words.
fiat 500 3,55m, this is truly the mini killer, besides what the journos could say to you the mini is nothing special, once you get down there the view is poor, given the lenght and how fat it is the room in the back is still a joke, like it or not, mini is just style over function. The 500 is truly elegant with a simplicity that is not going to date as easy as the mini or the beetle do. Even being smaller than the mini it has more room, a spare wheel and it is way easier to get in and out of it.
Alfa Mi.To. 4,06m, the sportiest mini, gorgeous styling that is going to make boring german cars like next Audi A1 to pale in comparison and look a retarded, cynical copy of the mini, anybody surprise the A1 is dubbed "Me-Too".

My ID was not by any meant to be inflammatory. Where am i bashing? Thank you for the info but what about cars? I know that many people from US is happy to get small European cars, so what?
The smaller car from US that I can think about is the Jeep Wrangler. But is reasonable for city? How thirsty? Is available with diesel engine? How noisy? Definitively not a cuttie girl car.

Nah, typically, new users start frequenting the technical forums first, and only later discover the Lounge.
Many of the new users are downright intimidated by the Lounge.
Rightfully so

The Panda is an idea of my car, sizewise but not much more. Inside is ugly. I only like the front outside. But thanks for this.
No Mini for me, there are plenty of females with Minis in Europe already!

The best car is A, B, C ...
User/Car/Best
A-A-A
B-B-B
C-C-C

Yes, and also get a Smart. Then you can keep the Smart in the trunk of the Hummer, and when the Hummer runs out of gas, you can continue your journey in the Smart!
No, seriously speaking, I have a Smart and I love it - it's perfect in the city, and on the autobahn it's not bad either (Mine runs 140km/h) and thats not too bad. And mine gets approx. 65-70 mpg with mixed driving

Maybe drifting off topic here *snort*, but I was in a mall yesterday and there was a hummer with a drawing box for people to fill out forms (some resort marketing ploy) and register to win the hummer. Nobody was even looking at it. In fact, as I watched for a few minutes, people actually seemed to swing well clear of it. It was really funny.

Good one Jens.
Buy an A-Class. If you have the budget for a CLC SC you have the budget for an A-Class 200 Turbo (petrol) like mine. It’s a wonderful car, even better now after the ‘lifting’. You can consider a Diesel but test it before buying. Forget what your TDI-friends can tell you about their cars, TDIs are really slow off the line and the city is all about it.
Or buy the Smart. Nothing can beat it as city car.
But don’t forget the great small cars made on France. The days when French super minis were created for willowy French women with size three feet are, fortunately, at an end. Take a look at Renault’s Twingo, Clio and Modus; Citroen’s C2 and C3 and Peugeot 207. These are the minis. The super minis, C1 and 1007 are smaller but not enough value plus the size. The 1007 is a niche. The C1 has a peugeot and toyota counterpart. The Yaris is fine. There are a lot of small cars. But again, the Smart is unbeatable. The A-Class is supreme.
Ignore the Hummer jokes. The Hummer has no future in Europe.

So much complain and so little advice… maybe the four or five members that cared to give advice didn't pick the right car, so what about this one?
Brazilian, it reads: "Fastest turtle on earth". And no, I am not picking on anyone, it is in my collection of good advertisement… every1knows a Beetle is a turtle on wheels.

Want a bargain? Look for a Smart Forfour Brabus. Can find one about 12000€. Almost 200HP on the dyno. Only 1.5 engine, economical, ecofriendly car. Smaller and ligther than any other mini. A very well built car. And different to any other.

Fixed that for you.
But I do like your suggestion of looking at some French cars. Thing is, I have no experience with them. They don't sell them in the U.S. But they are good looking cars! Definitely look into a 206/207 or Twingo.
Another option is the Nissan Micra. Nissan's been on the rise lately, and they make very good cars. They also have the Versa if you need a little more room.
I don't think American companies even make small cars anymore. They just use Korean designs and rebadge them. At least that's what GM does - the Chevy Aveo is a Daewoo, and they have several other models that are sold under GM badges but are really Korean cars (I recall the Buick Excelle and Chevy Spark, but those are both Chinese models; not sure if they're offered in Europe and what they're named there).
Oh, and I've always heard good things about the Ford Focus.

Luca is right. The Nissan Micra is very nice for a female. Not saying that doesn't fit to a male but.. The 206 is history. If you are considering not minis (I think you aren't) like the Focus, then there are a lot of to look. But a Focus, if you are asking for minis is not for you. Wait for the new Ka or Fiesta if you are a Ford lover. Well , better wait for the Ka, it'll be pretty , the Fiesta is very aggressive.

True, the Micra is really popular among the ladies, it is cute and looks funny, makes you smile.
Chevrolets are the same thing here, just rebadged Daewoos, but their quality is atrocious, there is only an american car worth to get in (as sporting a good cabin), but Cadillacs aren't either small nor rightly priced.
If you ever consider something like the Focus, I find it sort of big for a city, DON'T EVER get a Golf nor Audi's A3 neither a BMW 1 Series, they are just too expensive and boring, a VOLVO C30 would be a better option, even when it isn't the Volvo YCC made by and for ladies it is really popular among them.

84 HP? looks like those guys need to go back to the drawing board!!
In the states, the Nissan Versa gets MORE HP, seats TWO MORE PEOPLE and has BETTER gas mileage than a smart car. Oh, and costs less!

I'm all for high-end performance, and not particularly practical either, but the Brabus Smart doesnt exactly resemble a bargain. While the added horses are rather nice the Brabus mark is a bit of a disappointment on this particular adaptation. The fit and finish isnt that fabulous either, and the rides stiff which unfortunately makes that more obvious.
