How ghetto do you have to be to call your child "God" ?

Funny how they didn't use the name "Howard" in the title. Somebody was having fun at the news desk.

P.S. I don't really see it being all that different than using Jesus as a given name. Or maybe it's just short for Godwin?

I don't think a guy getting busted for selling drugs is news at all, but having the name God is kind of interesting... though not exactly news worthy. It was good enough for a chuckle to me.

Bingo. No, that would never happen.

And calling someone God might not be considered sacrilegious in Christianity, but tacky nonetheless.

It's interesting how people will frequently name their kids after prophets (Mohammed, Jesus) and other religious figures (Mary, Matthew, John, etc.), but not the big one. Are there any Muslims named Allah or Jews named Yaweh? I'd think it would be considered sacrilegious in both Judaism and Islam.

Jesus is considered "the big one" by those who use that name for their kids. ie. While Jesus is a prophet in Islam, in Christianity Jesus is God.

But many Hispanics, the majority of whom are Catholic, still name their children Jesus (or I guess Jesús).

I think it's a cultural thing.

I don't know, from His circumstances, I'd say the sunday school lessons didn't make an impression as a child.

I'm really curious how a last name like that originates, but either way, I love how the parents decided to take the god thing to the next level when naming their son.

That may be true in theory, but there still seems to be a taboo against naming someone after God, even in places where the name Jesus is common.

The Jews can't even pronounce "Yahweh."

I just finished a photo shoot for a client involving a harpsichord. I don't know whether she was cold in the rehearsal room or whether the camera got her all excited, but the harpsichord player's nips were very forward. Cute too. And no, no pics will be posted.
