Full text: An epic Bill Gates e-mail rant

Due to some legal trouble, seems some of Bill Gates e-mails have become public. Makes you wonder at what point red flags go up at that company.

"So they told me that using the download page to download something was not something they anticipated."

You make it sound like something insignificant.

That e-mail was made public around the time of the big Microsoft anti-trust trial from several years ago. You know the one... 20 states' attorney generals were pursuing it.

This is nothing new. The columnist revisited that e-mail now that Gates is taking a less active role at Microsoft.

I'm not surprised. Didn't Steve Jobs once say he calls the AppleCare hotline before?

I bet if you peeked over Steve Jobs' shoulder, you'd find quite a few Apple employees getting raked over the coals.

Yeah, and I suspect he would be a little less restrained.

I love this comment:

The Steve Jobs version:

"If the MovieMaker download site isn't working by tomorrow at 6 am I will come down there at 6:01 am an choke the living ___ out of all of you."

There's really a lot of hilarity there. That was my fav, too, there:

So I gave up and sent mail to Amir saying - where is this Moviemaker download? Does it exist?

So they told me that using the download page to download something was not something they anticipated.
But in all fairness to Mr. Bill... what occasional user of MS products *has not* wanted to be sarcastic with the MS engineers?

I actually enjoyed reading his email.

Edit: I'd like to see some of Steve-O's.

While I imagine it's in Bill's nature to be so precise (if not totally necessary), there's something enjoyable about him making his staff read about every last painful turn in his journey. It's like rubbing the dog's face in it.

That was awesome. At least he understands it, even if many of his engineers don't.
