I've been googling for awhile now and all I come across is 1–2 year-old information, and even then, not definitive.

I'm looking to purchase a new monitor to be used both as a second monitor and the occasional entertainment device (I don't care to purchase a TV right now).

Does anyone know the best way to go?

A 24" LCD would seem to fit the task, but what brand? I know some don't support 1:1 pixel mapping, thus distorting 16:9 to 16:10.

If your monitor doesn't have component or composite inputs, you'll need some sort of component/composite-to-VGA converter. Could an actual box or a video capture card on your computer. Either way, it might be cheaper to buy a TV ...

Yeah, I'm in the market for a brand new monitor, so I'm looking for one that includes component (and other inputs, if possible).

The Samsung SyncMaster 245T seems to be the best, for now:
