Bored with most of the casts on my pod now.
Kind of overdosed on Leo Laporte and pals which is getting a bit samey so looking for a couple more casts that might be interesting.
Not necessarily Mac ones, but some that will engage brain on car journeys to clients.
List me up suckers
(please)

If you're sick of Leo LaPorte and pals, that probably means you're not interested in You Look Nice Today.

yeah I quite like that. It's Merlin Mann and others so it's a bit different. A bit too obviously slacker at times but can be funny.

Like Merlin's other projects, I also feel like the clock is counting down at the get go til he stops doing it.

I just listened to a Russel Brand podcast yesterday (Noel Gallagher stopped by). It took a decent amount of will power to get through it. The guy is a bit hyperactive, overly-loud and giggly. If it hadn't been for Matt Berry calling in, I might never had made it.

I've been considering that, but the shorter (as well as more casual) format of podcasts appeals to me since I listen to them at work (where I can be easily interrupted, or lose focus).
Can't speak for Andrew, though.

I get irritated with Leo all the time (he never seems to notice the uncomfortable "laughter" after his "jokes"), but I keep coming back to the TWiT and MacBreak Weekly podcasts. I come for the guests, especially Dvorak (for the cranky old man stuff) and Merlin (who doesn't like Merlin?).
Other subscribed podcasts:
Around the Horn
The History of Rome
Podcast Beyond
That's it. I used to have a lot more, but I'd actually have to force myself to listen to keep up with them.

I need an example. I love how he will always say something he''ll regret. That's the best stuff. It's when he gets a little hyper that everyone patronizes him.
(Oh, and did you catch something at the end of two TWITs back when he apologized for some porn sounds accidentally making it onto the podcast prior? I haven't relistened, but that's just amazing on so many levels)

Yeah I heard that one. He was joking, they weren't porn sounds they were crowd noises etc from the games show on another audio track.

I was wondering. It seems plausible enough given Leo's attention span... The delivery helped too, because it was so sterile, like he added it after the show, or all the panelists were too scared to make a joke.

I don't want to go through the podcasts and find an example. I'll just come back and post it whenever I come across another one (I'm listening to two today while I put in some flooring in an office).
One thing that he usually does is make a Simpsons joke. They never go over well. The one that gets incredibly old is Nelson's "Ha-ha!"
I didn't hear the porn sounds. I have no idea what he was talking about, but it's still hilarious. I wonder....how that happened...
I blame it on Dvorak. Dirty old man.

Bah! PTI doesn't have Woody.

Woody is like the braindead Jesus.
Sorry, I can't enjoy a show that forces its panelists/pundits to take ludicrous barely defensible positions for the mere sake of creating some type of false conflict.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got tired of LaPorte and company on TWIT. Once they went to the really long format, it just got too much to take. My head literally hurt. And, frankly, Leo comes off as a big shill, anymore.
One of my absolute favorite podcasts is the BBC's In Our Time. Okay, it's not technically a podcast, it's the radio program made available. But, it's consistently engaging and intelligent. A very good listen.
They're between seasons right now. A good chance to catch-up with past topics.

Listen, keep Hannity and Colmes out of this. We're talking about ESPN podcasts.

For the Christians (and non-Christians too, don't worry) out there:
Mars Hill Church out of Seattle, WA has an excellent podcast of sermons, worship music, and seminars. Mark Driscol has a very listenable speaking style and injects quite a bit of humor in his lectures and sermons.

That's essentially all ATH is. Not that PTIs format is much different, but I always got a sense that it was a televised form of debates Kornheiser and Wilbon had been having around the office for years.
That and they're capable of agreeing with each other.

I didn't even know he had a radio show (until I started listening to the podcast, that is ). Since I left my last job (about 2 years ago) I haven't had much direct contact with Australians, so it's been more difficult to keep up with things like this.

Don't get me wrong, I like PTI. For whatever reason, I like watching it rather than listening to it though. That's why it's not always on my podcast list.

So are Woody and Mariotti.
Face it: you avoid ATH because of a suppressed man-crush on Tony Reali.

Because you are turned on by Kornheiser's good looks. Or you enjoy the Penguin dance.

Please, please, please tell me your not too keen on Mariotti. His tone is far too "outraged" all the time, but for the most part I usually back his views (at least on PTI), and therefore, like him.

You know, when he first took over after/while being Stat Boy, all i could imagine was him in NYC bars, playing up his guido good-looks and bragging about hosting a tv show while hitting on women.
23 1/2 hour break may be the most awkward sounding outro, though I salute his dedication to accuracy.

Both (of course).

Noooooo...
His run-ins with Guillen and Elway were entirely his fault, and he deserves the criticism he receives. I do like it when he's on with Woody though.
I like when Blackistone and Cowlishaw are on.

Maybe it's just a stereotype from an ignorant Southerner, but I've always pictured him as the prototypical East Coast sports fan: loud, opinionated, and smart aleck. I don't mean any of that in a bad way, either. He's part of why I like the show.
I usually skip the podcasts that feature a guest host. He keeps the show rolling.

Also, I've never seen someone's opinions be as locale-based as Bill Plaschke. If a SoCal team is playing anyone else, he thinks it's going to be a route in favor of whatever L.A. team he's covering at the moment.

ICK! Can't STAND DRISCOL, I think it was the 3rd chapter of Radical Reformission that just had me gagging at how condescending he was. He's invited by a gay person he knew before, to go to a bar because the guy wants him to know how uncomfortable he'd feel in church, and while he's there he realizes how these "limp wristed cow boys" are people too! Gah! Typical evangelicalism rebranded as something new.

None of that contradicts my fantasy, err, daydream.

What guest hosts has the show had? (Obviously I don't watch that regularly... though I vaguely remember him being out with a Wedding.

Rob Stone was the recent guest host. I wasn't around for whoever else did it. Stone was okay, but the flow was all messed up.
