This thread is all about giving love to the number five.

The Roman numeral for five is V, which comes from a representation of an outstretched hand.

Almost all amphibians, reptiles and mammals which have fingers or toes have five of them on each extremity.

The Torah contains five books—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy—which are collectively called the Five Books of Moses, the Pentateuch (Greek for "five containers," referring to the scroll cases in which the books were kept), or Humash (חומש, Hebrew for "fifth")

Muslims pray to Allah five times a day *In Islam, particularly Shia Islam, the Panjetan or the Five Holy Purified Ones are the members of Muhammad's family including: Muhammad, Ali, Fatima, Hasan, Husayn and is often symbolically represented by an image of the Khamsa.

There are five vowels in the English alphabet: a, e, i, o and u.

Five is the only prime number to end in the digit 5, because all other numbers written with a 5 in the ones-place under the decimal system are multiples of five. As a consequence of this, 5 is in base 10 a 1-automorphic number.

On almost all devices with a numeric keypad such as telephones, computers, etc., the 5 key has a raised dot or raised bar to make dialing easier. Persons who are blind or have low vision find it useful to be able to feel the keys of a telephone. All other numbers can be found with their relative position around the 5 button. (On computer keyboards, the 5 key of the numpad has the raised dot or bar, but the 5 key that shifts with % does not).

In hockey, the area between the goaltender's legs is known as the five-hole.

The five senses are sight, smell, sound, touch and taste.

Five is conjectured to be the only odd untouchable number and if this is the case then five will be the only odd prime number that is not the base of an aliquot tree.

The most destructive known tornadoes rate an F-5 on the Fujita scale and the most destructive known hurricanes rate as Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

The high five could never be possible without the 5 digits of your hand. What if we didn't have pinkies? Would we drag them low and connect, calling it the "floor four?" Appreciate five!

Michael Jordan's number was 23, and 2+3 obviously = 5.

In the United States legal system, the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution can be referred to in court as "pleading the fifth", absolving the defendant from self-incrimination

A Perfect fifth is the most consonant harmony, and is the basis for most western tuning systems.

Maroon 5 sucks.

In professional Wrestling, if a wrestler grabs the ropes when he is in a submission hold, the attacking wrestler has up to a 5 count to break the hold until a disqualification is made. This is also the case for choking, grabbing the referee, or standing to the top of the turnbuckle. Contrary to belief, it is not a four count, as emphasized in WWE.

Five is the number of oceans in the world.

Also, after almost 3.5 years, this post earns me my fifth star. Hooray.

If man is five, then the devil is six.
And if the devil is six, then God is seven.

From an anatomist's standpoint, it's even more interesting: five digits (of three or two segments each) extend from five "rays" (in humans they're called metacarpals), which extend from four carpal bones which themselves are based upon three more proximal carpal bones. The pisiform bone is considered a sesamoid bone rather than a true carpal from the anatomists' perspective. These carpals are connected to two forearm bones, which are connected to one upper arm bone.

You can see exactly the same structure in almost all vertebrates, from shoulder to finger tip. One, two, three, four, five (and then rows of five) bones. Cool, eh?

Patently wrong or at least grossly simplified.
