Mozilla drags IE into the future with Canvas element plugin

A lot of this is beyond my knowledge. Could someone a bit more familiar with it shed some light?

Interesting. Google is shoe-horning Apple and Google's Canvas platform (now officially part of HTML 5) into IE by way of an Active X module so that things like Google Maps can run properly in IE.

Basically, there are relatively recent developments in Web applications that allow for fancy graphical interfaces like Google Maps. Safari, Firefox and Opera all support this particular set of graphics abilities. Internet Explorer doesn't, so Mozilla is trying to add support so that all major browsers will support this standard graphics platform.

Have faith. Microsoft will come through and stand by its commitment to keep IE an island of PAST well into the FUTURE.
