I was watching coverage of this tragic case on Larry King tonight, and it occurred to me that everyone seems to assume that Casey, the mother, is guilty of murdering her daughter. They cite as evidence of this the fact that Casey has refused to cooperate with authorities. Has anyone paused to consider that perhaps her child has been kidnapped and Casey has clammed up for fear that her captors may kill her? It would explain so many things.

Also, her Google searches for articles on chloroform could be explained by the future kidnapper threatening to knock the little girl out with chloroform -- a panicked mother wanting to know what the hell chloroform is. Perhaps Casey was involved in some really bad things, and this kidnapping (if indeed it is that) is revenge for something she did and she isn't talking because she's afraid she'll be killed.

To me, the alternative -- that Casey either killed her child or was complicit (or an accomplice) in her killing, is so monstrous as to be difficult to believe. As for Casey's partying and pathological lying, it would be ironic if that bad reputation is part of what has her in such a box right now.

Sad thing is, she seems to be the only viable suspect and wasn't the child under her care when he disapeared. Also its not unheard of in this day in age that a mother kills her child.

As for her partying, I find that cold, heartless and unfathomable. I'm a parent and I cannot imagine going out to a party after something horrundous occuring to my child.

What does that say about her guilt, nothing I guess but it shows that she's not the kind of human being I'd want watchin my child and that aberrent behavior only stokes the fire of her perception of involvement.

I guess I just want badly for the mother NOT to be her child's killer. But then, I guess that would mean someone else would have to be the one, and what good is that, really?

I think she's guilty as sin, but until she gets charged with murder, her rights are being seriously violated.

You don't set a half-million dollar bond for someone who's being charged with negligence and forging checks.

What an odd question.

I mean, sure, *somebody* has got to go to jail for this. Maybe it's just my weird warped Euro perspective, but I'd rather it be the *right* person going to jail.

I have to agree. Hopefully, they nail her soon.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?
