Woman wakes up, should have smelled the coffee - Yahoo! News
"CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - It wasn't just the caffeine that gave an Iowa woman an extra jolt after she had her morning coffee. It was also the bat she found in the filter. The Iowa Department of Public Health says the woman reported a bat in her house but wasn't too worried about it. She turned on her automatic coffee maker before bedtime and drank her coffee the next morning.
...
She discovered the bat in the filter when she went to clean it that night."

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiick. Is coffee really that horrible that you wouldn't notice an ANIMAL adding flavor to it?
Side note: A lot of companies I'm looking into working for are based in Cedar Rapids. As far as Iowa goes, they have quite a bit of industry and a lot of engineering positions. But that puts me a few hours away from where I would like to be, so I'm kind of limiting my search.

Wha???
It took me about 5 minutes to make a cuppa this morning. No need to leave anything on overnight.

Some coffee makers have timers. You don't have to get up 10 minutes early to make the coffee, cuz it's ready made for whatever time you set.
Some coffee makers even have a complimentary bat-flavour option.

When I "wake up" in the morning, the extremely complex and detailed process of constructing the mechanism and providing the needed ingredients for my liquid consciousness is way beyond my abilities. Therefore, I prep the pot before bed so I can simply turn it on in the morning (a task that, while challenging, is within my abilities-probably because it's "turn switch, push button, get coffee" in nature) and wait... I should note that this morning thing is usually at 4:30am...
On the other hand, because I do not trust that I actually did set the thing up the night before, I typically check to make sure that there is water and ground coffee in the thing before the switch gets turned. So I'd have found the bat before starting the brew. On a side note, every coffee maker I've ever encountered encloses the coffee chamber, so I wonder how Mr. Bat found his way in.

Maybe you should look into extermination services? (With extreme prejudice.)

My coffee maker has an integrated coffee bean grinder as well.
You just fill up the container with beans, and add water as needed. You then push the button for the number of cups of coffee required, and set the timer.
It will then grind the appropriate amount of beans for you as needed, just before it makes the coffee.
That said, I rarely use the timer, since I don't drink much coffee during the week. I use it mainly on weekends.

Bats can squeeze into VERY tiny places.
Have at it boys.

True, but we're talking about the space of about three sheets of copier paper with the loosest timer-equipped coffee maker I ever saw. It's sort of important for the brewing to keep the basket pretty tightly closed. 'Course bats are pretty bright too, and we don't really know what species of bat we're talking about, either. Some of 'em are really tiny.
I'm definitely NOT going to provide any "interesting" ways the term "tiny places" could be interpreted...
