I am trying to figure out something. My dad wants to drive my car now instead of his Xterra. The best gas mileage that the Xterra gets is 17 mpg on an 18 gallon tank. My Accord gets 30 mpg with a 16 gallon tank. Midgrade (which both require) is currently $3.64 a gallon. How much money would my dad save by driving my car instead of the Xterra? So I guess you would have to figure out how much it costs for my car to go 500 miles and how much it costs the Xterra to go 500 miles. Thanks for any help.

No need for any fuel tank size data if that's all you need to know.
Xterra: 500/17 = 29.41 gallons = $107.06
Accord: 500/30 = 16.67 gallons = $60.67
$46.39 saving by driving the Accord.

I would also use $3.649/gallon as the price, as that's what stations here do. Price is always $x.xx9/gallon, but people say $x.xx without rounding up. I doubt imitchellg5 rounded up, so:
Xterra = $107.32
Accord = $60.83
Cost savings = $46.49
Or, to put it another way, it costs 21.5 cents per mile to drive the Xterra, and 12.1 cents per mile on the Accord. Driving the Accord will save 9.4 cents per mile.
EDIT 2: Doofy still needs to tell us what the subdivisions of the Dooflar are called. As the proposer of the name "Dooflar," I propose they be called "Dents."

This would be acceptable.

So your dad would enjoy the fuel savings while you get screwed driving his Xterra? Or would you share just the Honda?

I would sell the Xterra and buy something more economical.
It might not sell for the price you're looking for because if it has bad miles to the gallon, it won't appeal to people any more than it does to you, unless they really need a 4x4 for work or something.
