Snowed here yesterday too. Quite heavy at about lunchtime, most of it went again with the rain by the time we headed home from work.

We got some here in Syracuse, NY last night. (Syracuse is on the south side of Lake Ontario at the opposite end of the lake from Toronto.)
It was maybe two inches of very wet snow. Much of it is gone this morning but there is still the occasional bluster of new-falling snow.

None yet. I'm still waiting for my motorcycle title/registration and I was hoping to get to ride the 50 miles to my girlfriend's at least once, so I'm okay with no snow for a while.

Well it was sort of cold this morning (in the mid-40s), but it was about 80 when I got to the car this afternoon. Snow? Not a chance right now. Not like when I was growing up in Southern Michigan. There, you had to plan your Halloween costume to accommodate either temperatures in the 70s or the 40s, and the need for snowsuits wasn't unknown.

Yep, about 2" at my house too, but Redfield, NY (about an hour north) received 2 feet.

Haven't heard of anyone doing that for years! I thought they only sold all season tires now.

I bought snow tires a couple of years ago, but sold them because I hated driving on asphalt with snow tires. The feel is significantly worse on the pavement at highway speeds or anything close. The snow tires were worse in rain too.

We (usually) don't get that much snow (except last year), at least compared to places like New York and Montreal, so 90% of the time there's no snow to drive on, and thus 90% of the time all seasons are better.

For the 10% of the time there is significant snow, I just drive very, very slowly with my all seasons. I'd rather just get all seasons more often than buy two sets of wheels for my climate. I find that good all seasons do reasonably well in the snow if the tires are fairly new. When they get older they don't fare as well in the snow though.

I pick up a set of snow tires for my car, and I know they saved my life, especially considering my regular tires are high performance summer tires. One time in Missouri we got 8-10" of snow overnight. Thirty percent of the people at work didn't show up (95% of them have 4x4 pickups) but I made it there. My car was so low I plowed snow the whole way through town since it hadn't been scooped yet, but I made it there.

Yeah, high performance summer tires are totally useless in the snow. However, all seasons do much, much better in the snow.

BTW, one thing I notice around here is that after the first snowfall, it's all the 2WD and 4WD SUVs that are on the curb, not the small 2WD sedans, etc., regardless of what type of tires they have.
