http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...an-police.html

German police are appealing for help in finding a British driver making muppets out of them.

Speed cameras in the state of Bavaria have captured an Audi car breaking the speed limit several times with a Muppet Show character appearing to be at the wheel.

Only after examining speed camera photos more closely did they realise it was a right-hand drive car with UK plates.

Only a blur was captured in the driving seat, because the speed cameras are focused for left-hand drive cars.

Notice that they used a twirl. That means that someone can "untwirl" it and see what it's supposed to be. Didn't law enforcement learn anything from the pedophiles that twirled their faces in photos and then got caught because the authorities figured out how to untwirl them?

I guess not. They probably think that only they have that ability.

They probably don't give a **** if someone untwirls it. Plus, they thought it was so cool they did it to the side of the car as well. And you'll notice the license plate is not twirled.

No. They threw MS Paint on the license plate.

What the hell, they twirled the side door too. Reflection of a pedestrian?

Which is odd because if this truly is a case where they can't find the owner, it would suggest that the license plate wasn't readable in the first place (due to a reflective spray or something of the sort) - if so, why'd they need to edit it further? This story seems fishy to me.

The owner isn't necessarily the driver.

I don't know how it works in the States, but here, if you deny having been the driving the car at the time, and law enforcement can't prove it using photographic or other evidence, they can't nail you down.

Can't use that defense too often, though, because at some point, they'll start investigating who's been regularly using your car.

Or it would suggest that German authorities can't retrieve data from the UK database.

I suspect that the photo editing was done by the paper, to protect themselves from the lawsuit which the driver would inevitably bring if they published the unedited one.

Now. Enough about photo editing... ...there's a fsking muppet driving that car!

Safari did.

After logging out briefly to check out a thread in the Political Lounge I'd been told about (only to find that it wasn't at all different from what was going on in all the other threads, reminding me why I had myself banned from there), Safari decided it needed to ask me for my Keychain password to decrypt auto-fill-in.

It then filled in the log-in data for this account, for whatever reason.

Hello again!

:stretches a little:

Hm. Does this account make my ass look big?

They need to put this picture up on Top Gear. We finally know who The Stig is.

I would, but I've only ever been Person Man since the days before you actually had to have an account to post here.

You know, it's pretty funny that this nick's public comeback thread would be named "German muppets!"

I don’t think that’s the case. Where I work (a private company, not even any kind of authority), we have access to the vehicle (and personal, for that matter) registries in all the Nordic countries, so I’m fairly sure the German authorities wouldn’t have too much trouble getting access to the UK ones.
