I was at Abu Simbel a couple of weeks ago which was fantastic! However I am looking for the DVD which I saw on sale at Abu Simbel Airport called 'Abu Simbel and Philae Saved' and shows video of the relocationg of the temples. It may have also included the moving of the Philae Temple too. It cost around 850egp (about £8.50 GBP) but didn't have time to buy it. I also can't seem to find it anywhere on-line. Does anyone know where I can purchase or download it?

If you are interested, this outstanding archaeological area contains such magnificent monuments as the Temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel and the Sanctuary of Isis at Philae, which were saved from the rising waters of the Nile thanks to the International Campaign launched by UNESCO, in 1960 to 1980.

Here's hoping ......

My friend, take a tip, ... don't bother posting further on any topics unless you have something constructive, or midly entertaining to add!

Thanks Mattyb but how do I know if it's legit? I have tried to email both the author and the email address given but both were "undeliverable - unknown address" as I would like to confirm price and postage. Also noticed the posting was made in 2002 which is a long time ago. Basically I need a little more assurance before sending monies to them. How did you come accrosss it?

I Googled 'Abu Simbel and Philae Saved' and found that link on the second page.

Yes I did the same and tried to email "Sonya" and the email address to the right of the page but neither mail boxes exist as I understand it. I guess the only way to really authenticate it all is to write to them first to the postal address given. But having just returned from Egypt and seen how things operate I suppose I shall have to be VERY patient!
