I am extremely pissed at Walter Cronkite about this. Back in the 1960s he was promising us flying cars before the turn of the century.

(There was a CBS documentary series that ran from about 1957-1969 that discussed futuristic ideas and technology. Walter Cronkite narated most of what I saw of this series.

In any case, I expect to have to put up with a lot more election crap in 2011-2012 than we did from 2007-2008. I'd like to see something done about this, like a law cutting back on campaigning until the summer before the election. It's absolutely horrible that we start hearing about candidates for the next election before the elected folks get sworn in, and it makes the money people that much more powerful. Screw all that. Sure, register as a candidate, then fight it out substantively in three months max.
