So, when did this happen. Stephen Fry, UK comedian, TV host and presenter apparently has developed the power to kill a gadget, in this case the Blackberry Bold, stone cold dead. Well, so people (apart from Stephen Fry) are saying.

His podcast is one of iTunes biggest downloads and he is a long standing Mac owner (he bought Mac number 2 in the UK, behind Douglas Adams), but he doesn't like the new Bold, and this is thought to be a real problem for Blackberry in the UK.

I'm not sure myself, he's well regarded here, but not in the technology sphere so far, however maybe he's turning into some kind of über netceleb.

He has >20,000 'followers' on Twitter. I see the BBC are championing Twitter too. I have an account, although I'm still not quite sure what it's all about - a sort of mobile, geeky Facebook status type of application it seems.

you have to think that it's not Stephen Fry you're trusting, it's Jeeves.

Jeeves knows all, solves all difficulties.

ah well, if you haven't seen the "Jeeves and Wooster" series, then you in for a treat--if you feel like watching some light-hearted comedy. I know reading is a dying art, but you could also read the P G Wodehouse novels.

Point being, he's trusted because he "embodied" a trusted character, the quintessentially superior butler. Much like the stature accorded to Charlton Heston, based on a movie role...

Also try to dig out episodes of quiz show QI that SF hosts. Depending on guests it can be really funny, and informative too. Any episodes with David Mitchell in too are normally good value.

Also old old eps of his and Hugh Lauries sketch show "A Litle BIt of Fry and Laurie" funnier than most of these type of shoes and generall stands up well to the passage of time due to the intelligence of the scripts.

And of course General Melchett in Blackadder 4
