Another cracker from the news desk at The Sun: mad, bad Axl Rose has been missing for two months, much to the chagrin of Geffen Records. According to an ‘insider’, the Guns N’ Roses renegade defected from his media duties in the lead-up to the release of Chinese Democracy. “People have been trying to contact him for two months and he’s been completely AWOL,” the insider shared. “You would have thought after spending 15 years on an album you might do a few weeks promotion.”

One of my coworkers at my previous job went to high school with Axl Rose.

The school had a reunion a few years ago, and sent out invites to everyone. They received a nastygram from a Guns 'N Roses representative threatening to take legal action if the school ever attempted to contact him again.

Guy's a real winnar, if you ask me.

In 1994, Apple code-named the Power Macintosh 7100 "Carl Sagan" after the astronomer and science popularizer. Though his name was only used internally as a homage to his work, the code-name might not have caused any problems if Apple hadn't also released models codenamed "Cold Fusion" and "Piltdown Man" at the same time — implying that Carl Sagan was a hoaxer. The astronomer was upset at being compared to what he considered pseudoscience and sued. Although Apple won the suit, they changed the internal codename to "BHA." When Sagan learned that this meant "Butt-Head Astronomer," he instigated a libel suit. Apple claimed the right to free speech under the First Amendment and again won. This prompted Apple to change the codename for the 7100 again to "LAW," known internally as meaning "Lawyers Are Wimps."

I understand what Sagan's concern was, but it was still a stupid thing to take legal action over.
