They should, but I doubt they will.

My one issue with the much-trumpeted success of the few big artists that are experimenting with new forms of distribution is that they have a built-in audience accrued whilst on the majors. Not to diminish Reznor’s achievement at all (I’m a big fan of his), but I am waiting to see whether any of his success can be replicated by small bands that don’t already have a massive audience…

Good point, but even bigger names than NIN couldn't top NIN. That's part of what makes this extraordinary.
