So after 20 years the Simpsons have updated their opening. I like the way they kept the basics but added some nice details. You can see the new HD opening in the youtube link below.

Anyone see the most recent episode? I thought it had some really good moments. Like Brian's reaction to Stewie making a music video. Or Peter's eye-squiggly thing.

Some have higher entertainment standards than others. The success of FG represents a lot of what is wrong with American popular culture, although I will admit to appreciating no more than three jokes out of the many episodes I've watched. Usually I can go an entire episode without finding anything clever or humorous. (I know someone may ask why I watch the show if I'm not a fan - I will at times watch the Adult Swim reruns when nothing else is on.

For me, the Simpsons ended its run in 2000 with Season 11's Behind the Laughter. What came after that was a fundamentally different show that refuses to die because it's apparently still profitable.

If it's so humorless—you know, since you can go entire episodes without finding anything "clever or humorous," which implies that you still watch it—couldn't you just, I dunno, stop watching it? You could be the viewer the balances our popular culture, if only you'd stop watching **** you don't find funny. YOU COULD BE THE STRAW. Shoot for the stars, I say!

Anyway, I stopped watching the Simpsons about seven years ago or more, other than the occasional rerun. I watched Family Guy for a little while when it came back on TV, but gave up on it, too. The new HD is pretty cool, though! Nicely done.

That's the basis for the majority of the humor on the show, yeah! It's pretty hit-or-miss from the random episodes I've seen over the years. I don't think that formula makes it inherently bad or "not funny," though. I did like the Stewie movie, though, I will admit—even though it probably ate away at the rotting fabric of American pop culture.
