Holy ***. I thought it would never happen because some intrinsically localized set of skills, not to mention a je ne sais quoi that would keep those jobs planted near where they are needed.

In case that website doesn't say where they operate:

Perhaps the next time you need a lawyer, it will be affordable!
This is the first time I hear about outsourcing lawyers. Is the company mentioned above the only one?

This is great news!
Now that they are off-shore, can the bottom of the sea be far behind?

How is that legal? IANAL obviously, but I always thought lawyers had to be licensed in the state where they're practicing.

You do.
This isn't really that big a threat or issue for attorneys here. Very limited work can be done overseas. And then it has to be reviewed by an attorney here in the U.S. so don't think you aren't paying someone on this end.
Really the profession it hurts the most is paralegals.
It is going to save money for large companies who have large legal staffs on retainer for a variety of things. They can cut down on part of the staff they need here and that work can be done in India who can then send it back to the lawyers the company still pays here.
For an individual here who needs an attorney this sort of thing is not going to work out well for you and it could really screw you in the end.

Why should we be shocked by this, its unfortunate but not really surprising. Any job that can be done cheaper off shore will be moved over to countries that pay their workers pennies compared to US workers.
Instead of looking for the betterment of the country, workers and their companies many companies look at the bottom line and the almighty dollar.

How long before the 419 scam lawyers start appearing in inboxes?
