Just a quickie: Is this latest Channel blockage all over the news down there? Like, really hard to miss?

Got a homie down there who's expecting to use the ferry at the end of the week, and he's out of comms range (since he bought his holiday home way out in the middle of nowhere where there's no mobile reception and he hasn't had a landline installed yet).
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.

Eurostar is twice as expensive, apparently (so he says - I don't know, I always take the ferry 'coz I'm into boats rather than tunnels).

Next question: Why doesn't he fly? Answer: Because he took an Aga down with him, and it's a bit easier to get one of those on a pickup than on a plane.

The Eurostar is very cheap if you book in advance. My brother in law got a return ticket for the Eurostar from London to Paris for £44. Beat that with the ferry.

You guys do realise that you can take a car or even a pickup through the Tunnel don't you? Shouldn't be more than £300 for a return, Folkstone to Calais.

AFAIK the blockades are finished.

Yep. That's why I said homie says it's twice as expensive.

Where've you been? Homie in question is back home now.
(And apparently, he had absolutely no clue about what went on mid-week)

By the way, since he's a brit and you mentioned he is in the "middle of nowhere", I bet his house is somewhere in Dordogne. Am I right? Am I right?
