Has anyone noticed this?

It has been raining here (south-central Kentucky) steady for many, many days and I have never seen so many large mosquitoes. When I walked through the field yesterday, hordes of them took flight everywhere I stepped. The spider on my front porch is having a hard time with these, what seem to be unusually large mosquitoes, tearing up his web.

I think the large ones are male and don't drink blood, but I'm sure if there are so many big ones, the little blood suckers must be around as well.

How big are you talking about? Could you be seeing crane flies? They are innocuous giants that look like huge mosquitoes.

Try coming down here to the Texas Coast -- then you'll know what it's like to deal with mosquitos.

That's why he's gonna kill us. So we got to beat it. Yeah. Before he let's loose the marmosets on us."

Bah. childs play. Try dealing with them in a location that they don't get to hatch year round, like Maine. Then you'll know what it's like to deal with clouds of mosquitos.

Hey thanks, I think that's what I'm seeing. Never noticed them so thick before. I still blame the wet weather, but obviously I know almost nothing about bugs.

QFT!

The trend I've noticed is that the first hatch of the year are big slow bastards. (I don't think most of you have seen a truly big mosquito. ) The subsequent waves of mosquitos (the next generations) are smaller and meaner.
