My father once put petrol in his diesel SUV. Better still, his friend once put the petrol pump into the fishing-rod holder of my father's boat, thus filling the hollow hull of the boat, rather than the gas tank, with gasoline.

Troll, and a successful one at that. He just happened to mention the distinctive color of the energy drink bottle? Yeah, sure. And then after he "realized" he'd poured fructose into his gas tank, he was like, "Oh, well, can't be bothered with it now." Anybody who actually frequents a bike enthusiast forum would run straight to their garage and probably maul anybody in the way.

My temptation to then shove it into the middle of a lake and throw matches at it would be high.

^ Indeed.
My father, as it happened, did not say a single word. He simply drove very slowly to a hill, parked up the SUV, and pulled out the bung at the stern of the boat. Then both father and friend watched in silence while $200 worth of gasoline poured out on to the road.
A pregnant silence, as I imagine it.

Would it not have been possible to put a bucket near the bunghole?

They panicked. He was thinking of spark plugs and the electrical circuitry. And it was in on a deserted country road. The fueling station was the only sign of life for miles around.

Which was guaranteed by dousing all of the baby deer in gasoline.

All that thread did for me is make me realize just how tired I am of the whole "EPIC FAIL!"/"FULL OF WIN!" thing.
