If there's one unfortunate aspect to Batman Begins, it's every asshole thinks a reboot can now be a good thing, when in every other case its been a horrible thing.

Is that an adjective or a movie so obscure that I'm going to throw it out?

I'd say it's almost universal.

Also, The Incredible Hulk.

I thought it was almost universally accepted that the Edward Norton version was far superior to the Eric Bana version.

Wait, wait, wait. Wasn't the Buffy series a reboot of the original Buffy movie?

So the new movie will be a reboot of a reboot.

Not a bad movie and quite successful.

Even though I think Star Trek (2009) is overrated (averaging > 8/10), I still think it's a reasonably good movie.

They are cashing in on the Twilight phenomenon.

By the way, did anyone see Twilight? OMG. It was the quality of a made for TV movie on USA. Seriously.

But man was that vampire dreamy. He can use his desire to drink my blood as a thinly-veiled abstinence analogy any day of the week. Meow.

FWIU, Whedon wrote the movie more like the series was, but since he was "just" the writer, no one would listen to him and it got changed.

Which seems to be a recurring theme throughout his career.

I may not U correctly.

Wow, now this is a really bad idea.

How hard could it be to just give Whedon $100M and tell him, "go make a really good Buffy movie to wrap everything up"? They did that with Firefly, with mixed success, but Buffy's fan base is much, much larger.

No they didn't. The production budget for Serenity was under $40 million.

The dollar figure isn't important, I'm talking about letting the series creator finish the story in a proper fashion. Not going back to a flop of a film, whose only redeeming quality is that it spawned the best fantasy TV series of the 1990s.

Considering how cost conscious Joss can be, I'd say he could do an amazing Buffy movie for <$50m. I just threw out $100M as a figure that would allow him to work without any restrictions at all.

I don't think Joss has any desire to wrap up the Buffy story. If he did, they wouldn't be doing Season Eight.

They should make a Serenity animated movie. Use the same people that did Titan A.E.

Are you referring to the trailer made by a fan by compiling footage from different movies and TV shows?

It's a fan made trailer. It had no real budget and the guy has a limited amount of editing experience. For what it is, it's rather extraordinary. I hope an exec sees it and runs with the idea.

Uhh I meant rebooting a series while ignoring its creator... you know... kinda like what the threads about? Brilliant boys... I shouldn't need to quote the original post for you to know what I'm talking about.

When your post comes directly after a subtopic it might relate to, it's probably good to clarify which you mean.

Nathan Fillion would be perfect for the role.

They're 100% legal, and it's been documented that the original derail-er can receive an infraction for derailing, but anyone that responds to the derail isn't in trouble, since it now counts as a sub-topic.

That's a different matter. If we're talking about sandwiches and you chide us all for failing to understand how great mayonnaise is, it's technically not exactly the same as the original topic, but I think most people would agree that it's within the parameters of the conversation. If you suddenly started talking about how much you liked Katamari Damacy, that would be a hijack.

I just deleted a bunch of off-topic posts. This thread is not about topicality and quoting — it's about a very bad idea for a remake.

I couldn't care less about a Buffy reboot. Vampires are eff'ing boring. Why people care about vampire stories mystifies me.

Incidently, I heard that Spidey's next film nemesis might be the vampire Morbius. Stupid.

I'm not against reboots or anything. Incredible Hulk was a great flick because it mostly avoided the origin stuff. Origin stories are typically dull. Batman Begins works because the origin story is laid alongside Raz al'Gul's attack on Gotham.

If they want to give Gellar a new movie, pit her and ass-kicker Milla Jovovich against each other.
