Awesome, now all I need is a $10,000 Surface table.

Apple had that in 2007 with the iPhone. Other than that, you don't really want to be putting fingerprints all over your computer display, do you? Also, see "Gorilla Arm".

Don't people do that everyday on their iPhones and iPods?

Kind of a good point - but how many times a day do you have to clean the screen?

Besides, I think there's less pain involved with a mouse/keyboard - all that pinching and stretching hurts after a while, at least with my iPhone. I wish I could plug a keyboard into that thing.

I do put my finger all over my iPhone screen. But I think it's different with a handheld device versus a large vertical screen. I wipe my iPhone screen to clear the prints. That's harder to do with a screen. And there's still the gorilla arm to deal with, which is the bigger issue.

Gorilla arm is the no 1 problem. Touch screens are good if you have the surface of an iPhone and you can operate one-handed, but a bigger surface presents real problems with anything larger / longer operation.

Minority report looks good on TV, but imagine doing video editing with your arms up in the air from 8.30 to 5 everyday. (And I'm an editor, so I should know).
