I haven't been on here for a few months and there seems to be a lot less people on this forum now. Did something happen? Where did everyone go?

It's Summer. All the sensible folks are sunning themselves on the beach in St Tropez.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.
That's where there's thunder... and the wind shouts back.

The lounge was only really staying afloat on the irony of the deluge of threads complaining about how colloquy in the lounge was dying.

Also, I barely post in here anymore.

Perhaps adding some lens flare would help. Maybe a little more red as well.

I tried to register for one at Target on Monday, but I was thwarted. I did manage to sneak a package of cookies and a pair of ridiculous women's sunglasses onto our registry though.

Yeah, well, MACs are a dead end. No future, and everyone just realised it. I think it must be that Windows 7 thingy.

Are you suggesting that anyone who willingly goes to St. Tropez in summer is sane or sensible?

You must be mad. Do you consider people who spend their holiday driving a campervan from Gibraltar to Kirkenes ‘sensible’, too?

Frankly, I'd be insulted that I'm Number 2 behind Laminar (Obviously this guy has no sense of history, or present, really, since I barely post in the Lounge), though with a join date of Dec 2008 and this kind of outspoken behavior, its more likely he's either a former member or an fool. Probably both.

I prefer the South West of France to the South. And although the picture may be appealing to some,

I have first hand experience of the traffic jams and road rage that happens during the summer months around St. Tropez. It isn't fun.

The string bikini craze of the late '70s and early '80s was responsible for improving the traffic along the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. Not speeding it up, to be sure! But since "Bobbie's Bikinis" used bikini models as sales people, (good ones, at that) they garnered a LOT of attention, which was enhanced by drivers slowing WAY down to get a better, longer look. Of course the "good, upstanding citizens" of the area were shocked, shocked I say, about all that skin being shown commercially, so Bobbie had to give up selling on the beach. And traffic sped up. And accidents increased a lot.

Moral: slower traffic - and bikini models - are not in and of themselves bad things.

This, as well as a general dislike for places that try to cram more than 15 tourists into each square metre, is exactly why I don’t believe anyone sane would subject themselves to St. Tropez in summer.
