We've got a glass floor in the CN Tower here in Toronto. Even though I know it's perfectly safe I have a hard time stepping onto it.

I saw the Sears Tower pictures in the paper and my skin crawled! Yikes! No, I will NOT "try it," thank you very much. And that glass walkway at the Grand Canyon? Keep it!

Heard about this on the radio this morning. That would be freakin' sweet. Might have to plan a trip to Chicago.

I set the camcorder recording, just walked onto the CN Tower glass floor, without looking down, backwards and forwards a few times, then found it easier to walk across looking down, just about made it.

Not very inspiring view down though, through the floor.

Still, very scary.

Ya same here. I was scared out of my mind and could only put half my foot on it after trying for a while.

So I'm guessing that whole Willis Tower thing just isn't working out.
Astronomy has discovered the schnapps in space. Someone, he or she, had hidden it behind intergalactic clouds, probably marked for safety by a creative hand, so the space cleaning lady will not take delight in it. Sometime the clouds will breakup for me, and the beautiful women waiting behind feed me with truthful truffles. Finally water me with the essence of their heavenly appearance, until everything glows ruby red around me.

The holiday Inn in Durban has a glass bottomed swimming pool at roof level . The hotel is a C shape, the floor of the pool fills the gap in the centre of the C but about 35 floors up. Diving in requires a certain... commitment!

Looks seriously cool. Probably the only good article The Daily Mail has ever written.

Nonsense. The only people who believe such a thing have usually been listening to too many Guardian readers. The Mail's full of similar articles.

Diving into that sounds terrifying! My aunt lives in Durban, so maybe I'll go pay her a visit and see the pool.

How many people would you scare the **** out of by running up and jumping on the glass floor?

I'd favour the Guardian over the Daily Mail, but the only time I read it is when I'm either a) in the common room in the sixth form centre with nothing to do or b) in starbucks with nothing to do (they sell them). Every one of those articles that you linked me to were all unexpected and 'amazing' articles, but none were top stories of military / politics / business etc .. the stuff that makes the headlines in most other papers. Don't get me wrong, it is miles above The Sun, The Express, The Star etc. That tabloid crap is just ... crap. Articles like this I just find stupid, irritating and worthless. These were all on the main pages, headline / world news and most were emphasized above other articles:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...ommercial.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...othes-off.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...aby-panda.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...-Cipriani.html

All within the recent days.

Haha - my brother's friend (he's a fairly big guy) did that and scared the crap out of everyone. They all jumped back immediately

Ahhh. A 17 year-old. That explains your miserable dislike of tabloids.

If only you knew just how useless the other papers are too. They're all crap. But you'll almost never see a story about nice fluffy pandas in The Times.

Same.

Then again, I don’t like heights in general.

Paradoxically, in Northern Ireland the standard mention of "17 year old" would generally be assumed to be in favour of tabloids above all else. After all, there's nekkid womenz in there somewhere!!1

Sitting on the glass/acrylic of course.

The whole CN Tower is full of very hot adults whenever we go... which is when they open up the stairwell. We sit, cuz after 1800 stairs we're dead tired.

P.S. That day is definitely the day for tourists not to go. Not only is it very crowded, it also stinks like a gym... with inconsiderate idiots like me sitting on the clear floor.

It's been a long time since I've been to the CN tower, but I do recall going to an observation level where you could look DOWN out windows at the pools at the base of the tower. We were there on a fairly calm evening, yet you could see that the tower was swaying in the breeze by quite a bit. THAT particular kind of "looking down" was not a problem for me. It's the "looking down through glass that I'm standing on" that gives me the willies!

There is a part of the floor in the CN tower that’s made of glass, too, so you are standing on the glass you’re looking through (if you can force your feet on to it, that is).
