I have been thinking of dropping Comcast down to basic cable, and buying a TiVo for my DVR. I have never used OTA HD and wondering how well that works with Comcast. I also need recommendations on a decent indoor HD antenna. Also with the TiVo HD can you plug cable directly into it without a cable card for SD recording?

You only need a cablecard if you want the digital, premium and/or HD channels. It will decode the basic cable without one. Not sure on your other questions, but from what I understand an OTA antennae should work just fine with an HD TiVo.

The TiVo is also cool because it can stream Netflix and select podcasts in HD.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I have a $12 pair of rabbit ears I got at Radio Shack. They pull down a perfectly good HD signal, though it was far better in Boston than it is here in DC. AntennaWeb should help you figure out what stations are available in your area, and what kind of antenna you should get to best receive them.

Works fine, both Comcast and OTA. The TiVo allows you to use both input types at the same time.
