Just saw some video from the event today and he looks like a breeze would knock him over. And he sounds terrible.

Maybe he's trying to become a runway model and needs to get down to a size 0.

Give the guy a break. He just had a liver transplant.

P.S. I totally forgot about the iPod event today. I am ashamed... but I won't hand in my Mac geek card just yet though.

P.P.S. iPhone 3.1:

In addition iPhone 3.1 beefs up the iPhone’s ringtone capability, allowing you to download over 30,000 ringtones from major labels via a Ringtones section in the iPhone’s iTunes application. Ringtones will cost $1.29 apiece, and automatically show up in the iPhone’s Settings once they’ve been downloaded.

iPhone 3.1 is free for all iPhone and iPod touch owners will be available on Wednesday via iTunes.

I'd be impressed if home sharing could sync up stuff like playcounts... basically make other computers like an iPod/Apple TV in that regard.

Also, I can't tell for the pics, but Steve doesn't look any worse than what I remember (from what, January?).

I think they have something interesting to announce, because they seem to be blowing through some important things rather quickly.

iPhone OS 3.1 only got a small mention and iTunes 9 doesn't seem to be taking much time either. In the past we would have gotten 20 minutes of boring demos on both.

The computer sharing looks cool. Bonus would be supporting the PS3, but so long as AppleTV is around, I'm guessing that won't happen.

It's not clear, but one of the pictures engadget posted implied that Home Sharing is for purchased items?

He still looks thin, but I imagine it takes some time to heal from surgery.
Someone I know had a transplant and it took about a year to recover.
That was for a kidney. Which, just like the liver, is inside most humans.

I don't get the point of ringtones.

I can pay $1.29 for a 10 second clip of a song, or I can just play 10 seconds of the full song I bought for $.99.

This isn't really that honest.

I'm pretty sure the DS is multi-touch... and even if it isn't the touch interface works quite well.. and it doesn't need to be multi-touch because it has... wait for it... wait for it... BUTTONS!

Games may be more expensive, but the almost all of them are WAY more substantial then 99% of iPhone games.

The DSi does have an App store and (I think) the PSP has one too or will have one very soon.

And both devices play MP3s as well, so they technically are iPods.

Basically, this entire slide is false or doesn't really apply. The iPhone is a good game platform, but it's also a very different kind of gaming platform then the DS or PSP.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Agreed. I don't think it's nice to make fun of somebody whom is recovering from an illness. It will probably take time for him to recover back to his oldself.

What's up with Apple charging reasonable prices for flash storage space now?

And the Nano gets video but the Touch doesn't? That's weird.

The $199 8GB Touch seems way off compared to everything else... but I agree, the pricing looks solid.

Gotta sell those nanos somehow. A video enabled touch makes them less sexy.

Wouldn't Jobs' diet have something to do with his perennial thinness? Macrobiotic or some such thing. I remember John Lennon looked thin before his death, thanks to Yoko force-feeding him raw fish cheeks and dandelion clippings or whatever the hell it is they eat.

8gb iPod Touch = $199
32gb iPod Touch = $299 (about $4 per gig for the upgrade)
64gb iPod Touch = $399 (about $3 per gig for the upgrade)

8gb Nano = $149
16gb Nano = $179 (about $2.50 per gig for the upgrade)

16gb iPhone 3GS = $199
32gb iPhone 3GS = $299 (about $6 per gig for the upgrade)

What's up with this Apple? Come on. The ONLY difference between these models is memory space.

Yeah, my Touch from March looks great even after the price drop (Thanks, Amazon).

I'm curious about the base Touch, though. Either they're trying to get margin by skimping on the memory, or they're just trying to clear 8 GB SSD stock and it'll eventually fit in.

Speaking of misrepresentations, sure the Nano will 8GB of flash to store pics/videos on, but that's if you decide to put ZERo music on it. So let's be realistic.

It's so weird that the Nano has features no other iPod or iPhone has. They didn't really do anything with the Touch at all, did they? Besides a small price drop.

So I would assume from the openGL stuff that the new touch is the same hardware as the 3GS, which is nice.

Stupid, stupid, stupid not putting a camera in the touch, though. New nano is nice, but I have a feeling that the glossy finish is going to suck for long-term handling (old PS3 anyone?).

Here I was hoping we'd finally see the death of the classic and the shuffle. Maybe next year.

So do you think they didn't add a camera to the touch simply because they don't want it to compete with the iPhone?

If Apple had to pick, I'm sure they would much rather have their customers buying iPod Touches over Nanos... since the Touch has the potential for more ongoing revenue with Apps and a bigger screen for movies and whatnot.

Well, i figure they make more margin on the Nanos than the Touches... Maybe they hope that if you want a camera and a Touch you'll either buy both or bite the bullet and grab an iPhone.

I'd prefer it to be a smaller event, like today. Forget the huge crowds. The biggest crowds are the geeks at work/home watching live blog feeds.

Yep, and considering how much larger it is than an iPod (and lacking a screen), it should be considerably cheaper.

Well for the shuffle, killing it would me an entry-level nano for $99 (or less).

The classic's death isn't so much something I'm rooting for (considering how many people have 300+ GBs of music), but more something I've been expecting for a couple years now.

Considering how old the hardware is it should be cheaper. I'll gladly shell out for an updated version at the current price.

I'd say that's wishful thinking. I was nothing how interesting it is they start at $150 but for $30 more they DOUBLE the size.

Oh, I'm with you on that. I didn't expect for it to last this long. But so long as the HDD can give greater value for size, it seems to be kicking (thankfully).

It seems to me that they need to keep the Nano simple. It should be all about the music. Leave the cameras and whatsitz to the Touch and iPhone.

No camera in the Touch is definitely about wanting to sell more iPhones. I mean, it's the same freakin' device that has a camera in the phone version — it's not like there's any reason it couldn't have a camera. Obviously they just didn't want to.

I agree it seems superfluous. I'm more curious to hear a review on the quality of the camera (not that I'm in the market for a Nano). Unless its better quality than most cell phones, it is pointless. I'd be left grasping that maybe Apple saw it as a way to increase perceived value without losing margin (like it would if the old model was reduced it $99 and $150).
