So I have pretty compelling reason to believe that one of my neighbors is a drug dealer. This bothers me on many levels.

Should I report him to the police? The timing is pretty convenient, given that I'm moving out of state in...less than 36 hours.

WHAT SAY YE, MACNN?!

I don't know how much good it would do if you're not going to be around to talk to the police when/if they follow up on it.

A bit cowardly to wait until you move to do anything.

Don't bother. There can be ethical, peaceful drug dealers that are pretty successful... and there can be violent, asshole, aggressive drug dealers. If you knock this one down, the next one that pops up might not be nearly as chilled out and relaxed. As long as drugs are illegal, there will always be dealers. I wouldn't mess with it unless it involves you.

The way I see it is your moving, and unless he/she is moving with you, you don't have any real reason to go out of your way and get him/her arrested.

That isn't to say that you shouldn't inform your other neighbors who might be uncomfortable with drug dealing. At least then, after you move, you'd have given a heads up, and made it known for the people who are still living there to deal with.

Lastly, if you aren't %100 sure, don't try and sound like it (calling the police is a last resort when you absolutely know that something illegal is going on). Just let them know of your suspicions and tell them to keep a closer eye on the neighbor in question.

Good Luck with the move.

Another neighbor (who lives in the same building as the person in question) is particularly uncomfortable with the situation. Not only does the constant people traffic coming and going disturb her (e.g. noise), but the bigger issue is that she has a long history of being close to drug addiction in various ways (she knows for a fact he does various drugs; he's told her about that straight up), and doesn't want to see it happen to yet another person.

I'm with the others who say it depends on whether we're talking an a big-time evil drug dealer like you see in the movies or some college student making a little money on the side selling pot to his friends and neighbors.

If they charge excessive prices, then you should definitely report them. That would qualify them as dishonest & greedy.

Yeah, if he's just selling Pot or Shrooms or something then you really shouldn't. Pills, coke, meth, etc bring around an altogether different brand of scumbag. If you know for a fact he is selling hard drugs then I'd even call if I were in your situation. The violence and crime caused by hard drugs cannot be ignored, while the brownie scarfing, bad movie watching that Pot causes can be forgiven

Two questions you should answer before reporting him:

Does he proudly display the Confederate flag as a symbol of his southern heritage?
Does he enjoy BOSE® speakers?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you should report him.

Please identify which drugs are being sold. It really does matter (if it didn't, you wouldn't be asking us for advice).

From the silence, it's likely some guy selling weed. Leave the fella alone and let the cops go after some real criminals.

Seriously, who calls someone who sells pot a "drug dealer" anymore? If it's meth or horse or anything else nasty, DO IT. From what I gather, heavy duty drugs are the kind of things that generate the "visitors at all hours, lots of traffic" sort of nuisance this particular individual is painted as being.

I knew you'd be along with your ridiculous and ignorant blanket statements.

If a Pot dealer can be considered scum then the guy working the counter at your local package store is also a scumbag. Filling jails with minor drug offenders is literally THE stupidest thing in our judicial system, and it's costing taxpayers a small fortune.

I smoke a decent amount, so you'd want me thrown in jail, eh? The fact I'm a hard worker who has never broken any (other) laws, pays his taxes, and has never started a fight or beat my significant other (like those legaly drunken a$$holes) doesn't mean sqaut, right? If they want to get f**ked up they should do like everyone else and buy a bottle of Vodka and wrap their car around a tree.

Do you want to go down the road of how much crime, violence, destruction and domestic abuse is caused by Alcohol and compare it to that of Weed? Pot smokers and dealers are upstanding folks who like getting a little silly, and you obviously have some major problem with people taking 'feeling good' into their own hands. If I'm feeling a bit depressed I should either drink myself to a stupor or get nice narcotic-based meds prescribed to me, that's the American way!

Sek, have you ever considered that Buckaroo is made of Cheetos? Because that would explain his hatred of stoners. High people would threaten his safety.

Wow, this degenerated quickly.

I didn't do anything, mostly because I got busy with this whole moving thing. Which is why I didn't come back to this thread - I was on the road for twelve hours yesterday, you knuckleheads.

I have no idea what he was selling. Wouldn't surprise me if it was more than "just weed".

Whatever. It's irrelevant at this point.

It was irrelevant to begin with.
