As with all these new-fangled Internet ideas, I'm intrigued with Google Wave and what it has to offer. As far as I can tell, it opens in about 90 minutes to people who are already invited. If you happen to have a spare invitation, I'd appreciate one!
Cheers.

I signed up to join the beta when I first saw the form but it doesn't seem like I've been accepted into the beta.
Likewise, I'd love to get an invitation code if anyone has any.
Thanks.

Is there any good reason to want in on Google Wave other than "it's a Google product; therefore it must be awesome"...?

That infers that Google products are on general, awesome. Which they aren't.

I don't know about that. I really like Google Docs, Google Calendar, and Google Voice.
I wouldn't, however, pay $300 on eBay for an invite to any of them. It's just a website, after all.

Google Docs? Can't even keep a list properly formatted! Ever tried copying that **** back and forth with expected results? *sigh*
Google Docs, while immensely handy, feels much more like a beta product than Gmail EVER did despite it's beta tag.

Oh. I mostly just use it for sharing lists via the spreadsheets. I've used it for a few other things, but that's its biggest use to me.

Eh, I'd love to play around with it if anyone does get some invites, but I'm not sure if it'll catch on.
And judging by the way they handled Analytics and Gmail, it'll stay beta for quite awhile.

Well, don't you know that AJAX makes everything better?
AJAX: the new Flash. Use it because you can, not because you need to.

Sounds like someone knows nothing about AJAX. What exactly do you have against it? I found that AJAX helps with at LEAST, live updates of information very well, without having to F5 the sh*t out of a site.

Maybe I'll really like it if I ever got to use it. But at the moment, I don't think I even understand it. Some kind of merging of emails, tweets and MSN, with widgets, i think, and, err, somebody called rosie who translates things incase you want to talk to foreign people, and you can play chess and sudoku. Nope, definitely don't understand. There's a video, yay, its 1 hour 20 minutes long, ugghhh. Anybody watched it?

It'd be nice to have the 'open' the beta a bit more. Sending invites to just bloggers and tech pundits may help create buzz, but it doesn't show google the needs of the 'common people.'
Who do what common people do. Who want to live like common people. Who want to live like common people like you. Who laugh, and drink, and screw because theres nothing else to do.

It's only useful if everybody else uses it. I haven't used my account once so far.

Wow. For some reason my old college room mate sent me an invite. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, how to use it, or if anyone else I know is actually using it.
Awesome.

I would love to use this, but of course I'm excluded from the beta. Yet, I had no problem getting a Google Voice invite in no time back in May.

Well, I got my invite.
I have absolutely no idea what I would ever do with this. But hey, it looks neat!
Actually - I do think it could have its uses, but EtherPad does the same thing, at least for the things I want to do...

Same here, but I think it might be useful for some of the stuff I do in work, now if only everybody else in work had it too!

It's the thin/thick client argument again. Everyone starts a move to thin clients, then everyone realizes how stupid it is to let other people be in charge of your own data, hardware catches up in performance and price, everyone moves back to thick clients.
Rinse and repeat. Happens every decade.

You can search for with ublic (with : public no spaces) in your wave search bar and it'll show you all the public waves that you can interact with.
I think Google Wave has potential but, like everyone says, right now there isn't anyone to interact with.

The interface is typically bland google also.

Pretty much, except that I guess it's easier to do multi-person IM, and it saves all your stuff for you so you can search it later.
You know, if you don't use logging already.
I do like the ability to drag and drop photos directly into a wave, though.
