Have you received those "Buy Windows 7" spam emails?

I got several of those. Usually flickr is the source of the spam.

PS: I enjoyed the recent Apple commercials. Especially "Broken Promises" with PC going backwards in time is hilarious.

Are you certain that you didn't sign up for something? I'm on Flickr and I even signed up for the Windows 7 beta programme, and I haven't received any 'Buy Windows 7" spam emails.

Same here. I'm a beta tester (like tens of thousands of others) and haven't gotten even the mildest hint of anything from MS.

No, I don't even use flickr. Don't have it bookmarked.

I have gone there three of four times looking at some images using the Opera browser.

Meanwhile, it has stopped (put a few needles through a doll made of Windows 7 packaging material)

I'm wondering if it isn't phishing stuff? Sounds very much like it: just mimic a Microsoft website look and reel in the credit card numbers.

This doesn't seem very much like Microsoft. As a customer of both companies, I find both to be very professional when it comes to marketing. If anything, I've found Apple to be more likely to use intrusive marketing.

By using iTunes to nag me until I've paid to upgrade my iPod Touch for both the 2.x and 3.x upgrades. This is the only time I've encountered intrusive marketing from Apple, but it was *extremely* annoying. Every time I plugged in my Touch to sync, iTunes required me to purchase or click 'Not right now' before allowing me to sync.
