I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding specific dentists/offices in CR. I went to a dentist after skipping quite a few regular appointments, and he said that I needed one filling, but moreover, three crowns. I thought they would be around $350 per, but he laughed and said that that was about the going rate in Costa Rica, and that around where I am the rate is $1,000 per. I decided he was a great salesman for Costa Rican dentistry. I have found a few where the dentists are ADA certified, and the rates start at $250 per crown, and better, my insurance will pick up half.

So I can spend almost three thousand in a cramped office here, or have a nice 10 day visit to CR, and recoup under a palm tree somewhere down there. Though I've spoken to a few CR dentists, I was wondering if anyone has been to anyone specific down there, and how did things turn out.

Thanks

Couldn't you just go to America for half of that price?

Where in the states could I go and get three crowns for $375(after insurance reimbursement)? The travel and lodging I'd be spending anyways on the family winter vacation somewhere.

That's actually not a terrible idea, though it would inconvenient to schedule a follow-up if you're having a problem with one of your crowns.
