Sad thing is they were just taught to do that. It is not them painting their inner thoughts, or else it looks more like this:

Yeah, it's amazing what an elephant can learn to do if you have enough peanuts.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

pretty cool. The cynical part of me says that there was an elephant trunk puppet doing it, but I'm telling it to shut up.

With monkeys now communicating using syntax, it's only a matter of time before they train elephants to be their slaves and overrun humans.

I especially appreciated that elephant painted is in motion, with the brush strokes seeming to intentionally support that. There is significance in taking a still portrait of an object in motion, as opposed to simply painting a stationary object to represent it in an iconic fashion.

Bzzzt. It was trained to paint EXACTLY that, which is why it paints EXACTLY THAT, many times over. Google elephant painting.
