Um. .... old women are weird.

Link does not work due to Macnn's censor policy. Please use Resident Evil's link below. Thanks!

Censor list problem fixed. I've been removing stupid and/or expired stuff from that list for awhile now.

Or badness. They seem to have "enhanced" those dolls to look like they're distressed, perhaps very newborn, but they've done so in such a way that they look like they're older infants. The disconnect is disturbing.

For what it's worth, this is far less disturbing than what I initially imagined based on the OP...

Interesting. William Gibson wrote about this kind of thing over ten years ago. According to him, the idea behind it is to provide comfort for parents or grandparents whose babies have died. Wouldn’t work for me, but it takes all sorts, I guess.

The reborns in the "adopted" list on that site are pretty poorly done. The only ones that look remotely realistic also look incredibly hideous.

Then again, most babies look pretty ugly.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

I saw a documentary about that phenomenon some years ago, featuring a woman who collected tons of them. Sad.
