This thread is specifically to discuss the events and updates as they happen, and to discuss the new device between the time it's launched and the time MacNN gets an official section for it. I fully expect imitation threads to pop up, but I trust they will be dealt with swiftly and harshly, as there is only room for one Official Event Update Thread.

But you have a wife and a life to attend to. I think we need a thread started by someone who will have time to monitor it's progress tomorrow.

You forgot to copyright the thread, so I'm taking it.
"You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction
with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the
moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the
neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, 'Look at that, you son of a bitch.'"

But I have a salaried job that lets me sit around and browse the web all day, so I have plenty of time for this.

I'm a little surprised at the size of the bezel, but since it needs the home button and to look good in landscape, not too surprised.

"A4" Chip. Like a homage to the G4.

9.7", a lot of people were wrong on that one(myself included).

64 GB max. Not surprised at all.

Eug will be disappointed, but this exactly what I've been wanting.

The battery life (if it holds up) is phenomenal.

Yeah. The battery lasts 10 hours I think.
I was really hoping for OS X on this.
But if the price is right, this will be huge.

It's definitely no replacement for a laptop, as far as "getting things done" is concerned. It also looks like it'll need some time before apps make it shine. Lots of potential, though.

Anyone with the balls to predict the prices? I certainly don't, though I'm leaning towards a sub-$1000 16 GB (Maybe even $800).

Meh.

Maybe in the future I can focus on desktops for my main computer use and just use an iPad... but so far I can do all of this with my iPhone, and my iPhone fits in my pocket.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.
