I've purchased 2-3 iPods, 2 MacBook Pros, 1 MacBook, 1 BlackBook, and 1 12" PowerBook from the refurb store. So I'm very familiar with how they stock the refurb store, how inventory fluctuates throughout the day, all the benefits of going through the refurb store, etc. I've just got one question. I've been keeping an eye on the refurb store for the last couple weeks. I'm thinking of getting a new MBP. I'm looking in the $1500 price range. They usually have a few MBP in that price range listed. They haven't for the last couple weeks though. Is this by design (they're trying to clear out inventory for an upcoming release of some sort), or am I just not checking early enough in the day?

Rumor has it that there will be a new MBP announced tomorrow or very soon which could account for the lack of MBP refurbs. Even with that however, it's probably just a case of not having any on offer.
Somewhat off topic, it'd be nice if someone could make a site (with an iPhone friendly version) that gives refurb status on the Apple online store.

That doesn't make sense, logically.
A new model will only clear out inventory for brand new items, but not for refurbs.
Refurbs will still be around, even if a model has been discontinued.
So the status of refurbs will almost never tell you anything meaningful in advance about what's going to happen to new model releases. However, once a new model IS released, you should see a spike in refurbs, because people who just bought the old model will return it in higher numbers, just to buy the new model.

I wasn't sure, just trying to figure out why there seems to be a lack of a specific price range of refurb MBPs. Hopefully its just a fluke and they'll pop back up in the store sometime soon.
