Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez! Any trips to New Orleans, Mobile, Galveston on tap? Any real celebrations going on? I always enjoy a bit of (restrained, of course) merry making on Fat Tuesday; what's on everyone else's agenda today?

I've been riding a float the last few years. Crowds have been crazy big this year. The weather and the Saints win seem to have cranked everyone's party mode up to 11. I pegged a few (hundred) frat dudes in the skull and got out of town. Good times.

I saw a few guys dressed up like jesters today at work. Yes, today -- the day after Fat Tuesday. I should have gotten a photo, honestly.

Fun fact: in the UK, yesterday is also known as Pancake Day. Oh, those crazy Brits...

Don't they call donuts pancakes ?

The German's do (Pfannkuchen, literally pan cake, or Krapfen in some regions), it's a speciality during the Fasching, which culminates in Fat Tuesday.

Wikipedia says a traditional British pancake is closer to a crêpe than a doughnut or an American pancake.

And now you know!™

Funny, I expected to have to keep an eye out on this thread for pictures of young women "asking politely" for Mardi Gras beads... Not that Mardi Gras isn't sort of weird by definition, but this is a different sort of weird than I had ever imagined would come of my OP...
