The one that comes to mind that really stuck with me after I watched it is "The Prestige."

We just watched Ink tonight, loved it. Not strictly sci-fi, but close enough. I rarely see a film that pulls me in and stays with me like this. Not the best acting at moments, but excellent nonetheless. Be sure to watch the behind the scenes extra.

P.S. District 9 and Children of Men are amongst my favourite movies in the last 10 years too. Moon - not so much. Haven't seen Primer.

I was poking through my SF movie lists, and only came up with The Island for good SF from the Oughts. Did anyone else notice we had a long dry spell for good SF movies?

The Island is a great one, probably one of my all-time favorites.

It's not a movie (well, there is one though), but I really dig the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. It's a bit kiddie at times, but there have been some very dark classic sci-fi/mystery episodes that I've enjoyed quite a lot.

Missed a good one - the Serenity movie. But you'll have to watch the Firefly TV series first. I don't know if Netflix rents out TV discs.

Are we talking strictly Sci-fi? Because if we're including the surrounding genres I'd have to add Let the Right One In. Best vampire movie ever, imo.

For Sci-Fi only I'd have to add Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Serenity, and the new Trek. I'm also fond of Iron Man and V For Vendetta.

I don't really think of superhero films as sci-fi. A genre of its own, really.

Wow. Look at OAW dropping Chrysalis. Surprisingly good flick.

Anyone mentioned Timecrimes yet? A bit silly but enjoyable. It's got the boobie bonus as well.

I think they did a really good job making Serenity so you didn't "need" to see any of Firefly. But having seen any/all of Firefly makes Serenity that much better.

if we add some more sci-fi comic book both batman movies fall in my top 5.
Serenity would also come in the top 5

Sunshine, Minority Report, and The Island would come in my top 10

I copped that on a humbug from Netflix one day. Think it was a recommendation that the site gave me and when I looked at the synopsis it seemed fairly interesting. Turned out to be a really good movie IMO.

Here are a few that haven't been mentioned yet.

The Fountain (I LOVED this one)
Push (surprisingly entertaining)
The Box (not nearly as good as it could have been but still worth a watch on a night with nothing better to do)
Cloverfield (i like this more then most, I think. A great action romp if you don't mind the shaky cam thingy)

I love Milla Jovovich as well, but this is the only movie I walked out of in my entire life; and I've seen some pretty rotten movies. I can watch Troll 2 because I can make fun of it; it is one of those "it's so bad it's funny" movies. Ultraviolet is just horrible. Period. There is nothing redeeming about that movie.

No question, this is NOT a good movie, yet I must respectfully disagree. In part due to my love for both Sci-Fi and honest to goodness B movies and partly due to the one redeeming thing this flick has going for it.
