Is $36 year a better deal than 99 cents per month? I ask because I don't know if their desktop app is worth the trouble of installing Adobe Air.

I pay the $36/year. I don't use the actual app on my Mac, it's just more convenient for me to keep another Safari window open. I think.
I use the Pandora app on my garage computer, though.

Don't you wish you had the other $24 in your account?

I like the desktop app, and $36 isn't really anything. I like it as a music discovery tool and an unconscious playlist. s'good.

I know that we use 2 dollar bills to wipe our noses, but am I going to be equally served by $12 a year and $36 a year?

Benefits of Pandora One:
- No external advertising of any kind, on any computer or device you use to listen to your upgraded Pandora One account.
- High Quality 192Kbps audio, one of the highest-quality streaming music bitrates available, for each and every song in our collection, when you listen to:
o Pandora on your computer via our website and the Mini Tuner, or via the
o Pandora One Desktop Application.*
- The Pandora One Desktop Application, a sleek stand-alone listening option which doesn't require a web browser and gives you all of Pandora's best features in a small form factor.**
- Custom skins to personalize Pandora One on your web browser at Pandora Radio - Listen to Free Internet Radio, Find New Music.
- The Pandora Mini Tuner, another listening option: a separate, smaller web browser window for listeners who want a small form factor but don't want or can't run a separate application.
- More skips: no daily "skip" limit (although the hourly skip limit still applies), so you can always switch to another of your Pandora stations to get additional skips.
- A longer time-out interval: a five-hour time-out period between listener interactions (instead of the one-hour time-out interval on free Pandora accounts).
I appreciate all of those, they make the $36/month worth it to me.

Yes.
Another reason I went with Pandora is that I had been using it for a while, and already had the stations I liked setup. I didn't want to have to re-teach my listening habits to another provider.

Using the Pandora iPhone app doesn't net me ads or cease to work if I play too much music in one month.

I think we pay the $36 /yr for the ad-free service.
