Hello all,

I don't post here very often, but I read through quite a bit. My sister, 46 years old, passed away April 7th from a heart attack. She leaves behind 4 children ages 8, 11, 16, and 22. Although we were never super close, I loved her very much. My 13 year old daughter wants to know why I haven't cried a single tear yet, and I have no good answer for her. I suspect that today at the service and later at the cemetery, the tears may come, but who knows? I have no clue why I am posting this here, I honestly don't. I guess it feels better to talk about it. Strange, when I found out, the first thing I did was start calling my friends and telling them, is that weird?

Oh well, I didn't mean to bring everyone down, however, if you are into prayer, please say a little one for my sister, Linda Golemme.

Thank you,

Tom

There isn't a right or wrong way to deal with death. Sometimes the tears come weeks afterwards. Sometimes they never come.

I hope everything works out alright.

My condolences on your loss.
I don't think you should be concerned with `what is the proper way to grieve' right now. Just follow your gut. If I were you this would also be what I'd tell my daughter.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.

Like others said, there isn't a right or wrong way to deal with death. For me, it never really sinks in until the funeral.

Thank you,

Tom
I think guys have a tough time with grief, because we're required to be strong after a tragedy and that somehow precludes crying.

Your life experience maybe hasn't taught you how to deal with this yet, but maybe deep down inside you aren't supposed to cry until you've helped everyone else deal with it. Most important are the kids, of course, and making sure that they have what they need physically and emotionally going forward.

Once you've helped others deal with this, it will amaze you how you will come to deal with it on your own terms.
He can be fixed -- you can't.

I'm very sorry. Sometimes tears just don't come. Sometimes, it takes a while to be able to cry. Tell your daughter this, and assure her that it's OK-that you are handling this awful news in your own way.

Again, I'm very sorry.
