I love the win by two, but I am a little concerned someone is going to pass out at some point.

Nevermind that they'll probably be too hosed for their next match (Note: I may have heard the frenchmen got into this round with a 22-24 win last match - in which case, he's in amazing shape)

They might as well play tomorrow from bed, as neither will be walking. Maybe play Wii Tennis to duke it out?

The Wimbledon scoreboard says play is suspended - at 59-59. If it had made it to 60-all, It would have been the equivalent of 10 6-6- sets. Incredible.

Can anyone think of a single sporting event (game/match/etc.) that went longer than this?

Don't some cricket matches last forever?

From the AP - "They have been playing for a total of exactly 10 hours — 7 hours, 6 minutes in the fifth set alone, enough to break the full-match record of 6:33, set at the 2004 French Open."
Edit: Re-read that. The fifth set took longer than the entire match from the French Open.

One of the cricket match formats lasts for 5 days, yes, but that is by design. Also some extreme races last for a very long time, but that is also by design. I'm trying to think of anything else that might have lasted this long, and the only one I can come up with is ice hockey with sudden death. Anyone know the record for that?

Unless a chunk of it goes in excess of 5 hours, I doubt I'll be impressed.

Edit: 24 Hours of Le Mans, though that's split among three drivers, IIRC.

I can find examples of hockey games going for more than 8 hours. That's still less than this, but all high score lists list effective playing time, not time on the clock, so there may have been longer games than what my limited googling can find. Anyway, the longest game ended at 2.25 am, but I can't find when it started.

Some Le Mans-style races go 48 hours straight. They have to do oil changes on the cars. I used to be really into it once upon a time.

Carries on today, its the third match on that court. At least they've got until this afternoon to sleep it off . Another record that went is the fastest ace at Wimbledon - 148mph, by Taylor Dent, an American. With a name like that, who knew! .

Oh jesus. It turns out this is the third day for the match as it was suspended on its first day Tuesday, in the fourth, thanks to fading light.

Yeah they got to 2 sets each on Tuesday night, then 59 games each yesterday. The women's match is over now, they're next on at 3.30pm UK time, so about 50 minutes to go .

Have they moved the match to a bigger court? (more seating?)

I'm wondering if Wimbledon Officials have decided whether to step in at a certain point. Say if it hits 100 all or goes into yet another day of play.
