Identify these larvae!

OK, so I found this pod of larvae on my wall (inside!) last night. Since the MacNN community collectively knows pretty much everything that can be known, I'll ask here first (for scale, the cluster is about the diameter of a penny, maybe 14mm):
Does anyone know what these are? Are they better gently carried outside, or will they eat all my vegetables and herbs and are thus better destroyed? (I prefer to not do that, if it's not necessary.)

Indeed. In the first pic you can see the eggs apparently laid on the wall. I suppose they should have been laid on a leaf for the babies to eat, but instead they’re stuck on a concrete wall. Not very tasty, indeed.

they look like moth or beetles.
edit: Im going to guess probably a moth, beetles dont usually lay their eggs in the open like that.

Exactly! Since moths are dumb enough to fly themselves into a flame...they're usually not too discriminating about where they lay their eggs, and any safety issues inherent to said locations.

Most moth caterpillars have hairs for protection, but its weird that the eggs were not laid on the food supply buy the adult moth.
