Today is the official US holiday recognizing the first voyage of Columbus to the New World. (Let's not get political here, please!) What is everyone doing to recognize/ignore this holiday? Public schools here are off today, but universities are open. No mail delivery today, but surprisingly very few sales are being held to cash in on celebrate the day. My wife is working today and I'm not. Kind of a slow day for me overall.
Today is also Canadian Thanksgiving. How are our Canadian members celebrating today?
An amusing comic that's on topic:

Crap, I forgot there is no mail delivery. The post office is probably closed then. I was planning on getting my passport (Mondays are my only day off).

The other law firm that shares my office building is off for the holiday, but I'm not. I'm all along in the building and enjoying my lunch break by posting on macnn.

Did the food insult your mother?

Completely not acknowledging the day at all.
But I'm glad you posted - at least now when I arrive home to an empty mail box, I'll know why.

Oops, I should have credited the comic strip. That's Frazz by Jeff Mallett. The style really is reminiscent of Calvin and Hobbes, isn't it.
